Over the last 4 years, the Iron Yard has led the code school industry in preparing students for careers as software developers. The industry as a whole is still young and its leaders face the challenge of a nascent market, as well as the demands facing all institutions in the higher education marketplace.

In considering the current environment, the board of The Iron Yard has made the difficult decision to cease operations at all campuses after teaching out remaining summer cohorts. We will finish out summer classes completely, including career support.

While our journey is coming to an end, we will always take pride in the thousands of people our staff helped to launch new careers.

We are training web developers to fuel the Triangle's technology economy in North Carolina with our coding classes. To connect students directly with potential employers, our coding courses are held in the American Underground, in close proximity to some of the Triangle’s leading tech startups.

Dana fell in love with North Carolina while studying Sociology at Salem College. Prior to joining The Iron Yard, she spent more than eight years in educational sales and support. Dana loves exploring the Durham food scene with her wife and son.

Eric is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from St. Vincent College with a degree in Sociology. He taught middle school math and acted as the athletic director before finding my way to The Iron Yard.

Amy arrived in the tech industry after graduating from The Iron Yard's very first cohort in Durham. She earned a PhD in literature at UNC Chapel Hill and served in higher education administration. Before coming back to The Iron Yard as an instructor, Amy worked at a local startup as a full-stack developer, with a primary focus in Ruby on Rails.

Kelly has been coding since she was 12 years old and has been immersed in tech and education since receiving her Master's Degree from North Carolina State University in 2013. After a stint in San Francisco's tech scene, Kelly moved back east to take advantage of Durham's bustling growth.

Nicole graduated from Appalachian State University where she studied Psychology and Health Promotion. She joined The Iron Yard from Red Hat where she was a Project Manager for their Total Rewards and Sales Enablement programs.
